Many FTT subscribers are aware that it was almost two and a half years ago that my younger son Russell was killed in a car accident. Since that time, FTT has posted a number of articles, mostly written by FTT Contributors.

As for me, I've written numerous articles that I want to share with you. However, I just have not been able to finish these pieces and they sit here in my computer just begging to be completed. Enter my friend and colleague, Jordan Simon (not to be confused with my own son, Jordon Ferber) who has kindly offered to come to the rescue. He spent several hours with me and David to hear about our journey to Napa, has taken our stories and impressions, combined them with his vast wealth of knowledge of the region, and revised our original article into Napa Nibbles which we hope you will enjoy reading as much as we did. It was Jordan's idea to do a separate piece on Winning Wineries, rather than simply write up the two we visited. My advice is to read the former article first and then get a glimpse of all that the Napa Valley has to offer in terms of winery visits.

Jordan has been writing about travel, food and wine since 1987, his latest stint at Wine Country International and Editor-in-Chief of Wine Country Network. His articles have appeared in numerous publications including Diversions, Caribbean Travel & Life, Town & Country, Travel & Leisure, Elle, to name a few. He is also the author of several Fodor as well as a number of Frommer travel guides.

I also want to welcome a new writer into the FTT family of contributors. Longtime FTT contributor Lisa Hettler-Smith enlisted her friend Gina Daul to write up their surprisingly superb visit to Safari West in Santa Rosa, California and we know that you'll appreciate her voice in the article, Serengeti in Sonoma.

Gina is a San Jose mother of two boys, who has written extensively for school publications. She and her family are widely traveled, and this is her first foray into extending her writing skills to cover one of her family trips. I speak for all of us when I welcome Gina into our fold of FTT writers.
